Ouch!!

As I was going through old photos looking for pictures to put up on my blog, I ran across these. I didn't realize how many "incidents" we had until now. I just hope nobody reports us to social services! : )
Over the years I have past many a kidney
stone. I'd have to go back and count but
I'd say there's been 8 or 9 that have sent
me to the emergency room in the past
eleven years. It got to the point where we
started to name them like another one of
our children. This one here is Celine. She
was past in Las Vegas while there to see
Celine Dion (front row center I might add -
Thanks Molly!)

Cameron fell and hit his head on the TV stand
two days before Christmas 1999. He had to
have it "glued".

Here Cameron got a Staph infection on his leg. Yuck!
2001

As some of you may remember, in July 2002
Cassidy's middle finger was 90% severed when her
brother accidentally closed her finger in the door.
This was not the only time she suffered a finger
injury. In May of 2004, Cameron and her were
playing tug of war with a purse strap that had metal
hook clasps on each end. Cameron pull so hard
that the hook got embedded into her finger. She
didn't have to get stitches but she did have it glued.

Cameron came into my room in the middle
of the night because he was having a hard time
breathing. He had to spend a couple of days
in the hospital under a croup tent. They
never figured out what was wrong nor
why it happened. August 2002

Here he is again coming out
from underneath the tent.
I remember how brave he was
when they had to put the IV in the
back of his hand several times.

Cassidy was born with a blocked tear duct
in her right eye. Most of the time the eye
unblocks itself in time but didn't in her case.
She had to be put under to have a surgical probe.
November 2002

I'm don't remember what happened
here but I'm betting it had to do with
her 4 year old brother...
Summer 2003

Get a load of this one! Cameron was playing
some kind of game where he would run as fast
as he could and then jump on the bed. Cassidy
stepped into his path while he was going
full speed and was knocked down. On the
way down she hit her head on the bed railing.
Summer 2003

Here's a side shot of Cassidy's bump.
Thankfully the swelling didn't last long and
she was back to her fun-loving self. She's
always been one tough cookie.
She's had no choice!

Here is the scar left from when Cassidy
was jumping on a bed and fell and cracked
her head between the eyes. Yes children,
this not only happens to monkeys... Let
this be a lesson to you. Fall 2003

Yet again Cassidy had to have stitches in her
head. This time she tripped on the
bottom step, lost her balance and slammed into
the corner of the wall. Sometimes those walls
just jump out at ya! October 3, 2004

This is what Kennedy would have been
on her first Halloween (a chocolate kiss) if
she hadn't been in the ER instead. Around
dinner time, while she was playing under her
activity gym she somehow rolled over and
got her left arm caught on the bar causing
nursemaids elbow (dislocated elbow).
October 31, 2004

We did pretty good and almost went a whole
year and a half before our next trip to the ER!
Then on February 3, 2006 Cameron fell down
the stairs and snapped his tibia (shinbone). He
was in a cast for 10 long weeks and in a
wheelchair the whole time. The best part
was being able to park in the disabled parking
spots. I miss those days... but not the days
of carrying him up and down the stairs.

His whole 1st grade class signed his cast as
did neighborhood friends and family. A little
advice: Don't break your leg. It's not
very convenient.

Hi, my name is Sharyl. I accidentally stumbled accross your blog and looked at some of your pics of your family. Looks like your little ones have had some tough times. I'm a new mom and am terrified of the things that will happen to my son and I know there's no way to stop them. This is going to sound strange, but your pictures have made me feel better about injuries. Even with all of the bumps and bruises, your kids look very happy, healthy and loved. I hope I am as brave as your children when it comes to my son getting hurt. Good luck to you beautiful family and God Bless.

Alisha, in your January 28, 2007 post, you have a photo of yourself and your child in a croup tent. I'm doing an article for my own blog right now (www.ColloidalSilverSecrets.blogspot.com)and need a picture to demonstrate what a croup tent is. Could I have permission to use your picture? I'll even hyperlink it back to your blog, if you want. If it's alright, please send me an email to stevebarwick@TheSilverEdge.com with your permission.

Thanks and many regards,
Steve Barwick
